What is a Copyright Claim?
Copyright owners on YouTube use Content ID, a tool that will automatically scan your video to detect any copyright-protected content. If a match is found, you will receive a Content ID claim.
A Content ID claim does not negatively impact your channel, however if your channel is monetised the revenue generated can be shared with the copyright content owner if their policy is set to "monetised".
The content ID owner can choose what happens to your content when a content ID claim is detected:
- Block your content from being viewed in certain territories
- Monetise by running ads on your content and sharing revenue with the content owner
- Track views and statistics on content.
It is possible to have more than one copyright claim on a video, and content ID claims do not create or lead to copyright strikes.
Lickd is fully claims-managed, we'll clear any Content ID claim's on content where a valid license is purchased by Lickd.
